Photo Fun

I’ve been having a lot of fun recently taking lots of photos, particularly experimenting with film. The above shot was shot in b&w on my little Canon 300v. I’ve also taken a load of shots on expired slide film which gives some very strange colours when cross processed (processed as if normal film, not slide film).

Urinal & Litter = Lovely

Then we have the film that I sent down to Bristol, which sarah then shot over the top of, so thats double exposed, cross processed, expired slide film. *breathes*

Mr Picassohead!

Mr Picassohead (No.1)

Found this brilliant site for making Picasso-ish drawings. Its really easy to use and creates really funny stuff. There is also a Valentine specific one where the drawing board is a heart with extra valentine-like additions (flowers and hearts etc). Click below to view some more of my creations.

Summer in the city

Soon, oh yes soon, it will be summer!

But apparently there’s a cold snap heading our way from russia, so maybe not very soon.

I’ve started up a new blog, which I call Delete Me Resurrection. I’m going to be using it to highlight some of the photos which have failed to be ‘saved’ by the various voting groups on Flickr which I actually like.

So why you ask have I selected the above photo of some green chairs to show you here. Well, firstly it was deleted out of the original Delete Me group. But thats not why I’m showing it you, no.

I decided I didn’t like it enough to resurrect it.

Thats still not why I’m showing it you.

Its because it used to appear on the ‘interesting’ page along side my own ‘most intersting’ photo for March 4th 2005. Infact there used to be two photos on the same theme above my own photo.

And I came across it while I was researching for the blog using the ‘interestingness’ of the ‘deleteme10’ tag.

I thought that was interesting :)

Wanted: Photos of art

I’m after photos of this art installation, part of the British Art Show 6, showing all over Newcastle/Gateshead during the end of this year.

> Mark Titchner
> Byker Bridge
> Friday 16 September – Tuesday 11 October
> Gallowgate Car Park
> Friday 16 September – Monday 10 October
> Forth Street/Railway Street (* I’m gonna get this one this lunchtime)
> Friday 16 September – Tuesday 11 October
> City Road, Manors Station
> Friday 16 September – Friday 14 October

> Mark Titchner has produced a series of billboard posters at sites across Newcastle. The designs are based on requests made to local authorities by the public which he has translated through the occult system of sigilisation, invented a century ago by the artist and magus Austin Osman Spare.

For more details on whats happening check out the [hayward website](http://www.hayward.org.uk/britishartshow6/), the [baltic website](http://www.balticmill.com/html/viebas.html) and the [locator website](http://www.locatorart.org/) (contemporary art in newcastle/gateshead locator).

Update: found two (no three!) of them.

They are weirder looking than I expected. Anyone wanna get the Byker bridge on for me?

Enough to make you cry

I’m not really an emotional person in real life, I bottle things up and ignore stuff rather than face things that might make me sad, a form of self defence no doubt.

But sometime, for no apparent reason something will just cause a tear or two to well up in my eyes, touching something deep within. Flickr has provided me with three of these occasions so far, pictures, usually with words, which have touched me for various reasons.

The first, and most recent is from Special. I suggest you go to Flickr and read the description. There are many things bad about the internet, but it does provide a certain amount of outlet for so many people – you can say things to no-one that you could never say to anyone.

The second wasn’t so much the picture, but the text that went with it. Although the picture and caption tell a story in themselves.

The third one (or first taken in chronological order) was just one of those photos, I just stared for a while, the look in the eyes speaking volumes. The vulnerability, trying to hide behind the cushion, but the camera seeing all.

Henry Moore

Yorkshire Sculpture Park 038

Henry Moore has to be one of my favourite artists, his stuff being so emotional and connected in a strange and abstract way. It was his birthday on the 30th July so I thought a quick post was in order.

The above photo was taken at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, a place I really must go to as Bretton Hall, which it is adjacent to it is where my mum went to college (drama and english) and on the lake of which is where she first met my dad.
